Skid Plates, new vs. stock

I just bought a Commander and first thing I would like to do is get some skid plates under there. It looks as if the plate up front is plastic and another underneath the driver and rear drivers side doors that seems to be metal.

Looking at the skid plates for sale i see a fuel tank plate, front suspension plate, and a transfer case plate.

Am I right to assume the metal plate under my drivers side door is the fuel tank plate and I should buy the other two?

Not at the moment, I suppose I could get one though. But is the fuel tank plate under the drivers side?

The fuel tank skid plate is located in front of the rear wheels and looks like a box under the fuel tank. There is a thinner box as stock and the replacement skid plate is of heavier metal. The other two skid plates are located forward of the fuel tank skid plate. I think the transfer case skid plate requires the fuel tank skid plate to bolt to at the rear. There are also aftermarket skid plates for the very front end to protect the radiator support and lower end. Ross, (Get lost 4X4) makes these to connect from the bumper to the lower box frame.

Maybe the two will meet up soon edit: they did , I now have 2,now gave 1 away...and got it back again.

You MUST install the Gas tank skid plate if you want to install the transfer case skid plate.

All Commanders come with a plastic skid plate for the front suspension. An optional factory Skid Plate Group is available. These are the plates in the picture I posted and they are made from steel. If you bought yours used you probably don't know what you have under there. But now you can tell by referencing the picture.
