Need help with roof rack purchase

i need to be able to carry a kayak on my 06 commander. looking at roof rack sruff i am confused. i know i need the cross bars and i need a 3040 kit (not even sure what that is). can anyone tell me exatly what is needed? thanks!

Yes, you need cross bars. The 3040 kit is a mounting kit to your cross bars, then whatever carrier you get for your kayak attached to the 3040 kit. You might check this web site as a possible source for Yakima or Thule kayak carrier.
