just installed k&n air intake!!

hey guys! i just installed my k&n 77 serie air intake system and i must say wow!!! big diff in throttle response and the sound .. now i can say that theres a hemi under the hood!!! the gas mileage seem to have improve but thats not something i usually check and i drive in the city mostly. before the install it was around 10.3 in the city then after the install it went down to 8.5 (had fun with it u know!!) then went to a supper a 30mile ride and tried to stay between 50 and 60 on the cruise and it went up to about 15.5. then back in the city (only half a mile) it stayed at 14.8 so we'll see if it stays there just for the fun of testing !!

one thing i didnt like about the 77 serie air intake was the tube itself! this thing is cheap chrome and you shouldve seen the interior of this thing!ugly ugly ugly!!they didnt do any finishing after the chrome was done.it was so dirty that i had no choice but to sandblast yeah! sandblast it!(good thing i had my industrial sandblast cabinet :P )then i painted the interior black.beleive me if i had installed that the way it was i wouldve killed the engine within a mile!hey thats what happens when u dont wanna pay the 450$ in an auto parts store and buy on ebay for 270$ shipped .couldve easily happen at the local autoparts store tho! and returning it then wait for another one for a couple of days ..nah!!

Got mine too

I installed my K&N CAI over lunch on Wed. I have to say that I was impressed with the fit on everything. Most of the time you go to install something and it never lines up just right. 45 minute install. When you look at the nest of parts you pull and leave off your XK, you can see how that restricts air flow so bad. You would think that it would at least be a factory option on some vehicles. Oh yeah, the sound kicks ass now too. I have to ask my wife to let me out of the car and have her take the wheel and give me a drive by at WOT. I'll make sure I wear some loose pants for that.......lol!

P.S. - I am watching my mileage go up even though I have been into it the last couple of days. What did you end up finding out in terms of your long term MPG's?

I installed mine (pretty much new at this) and for some reason I am getting hot air inside the cabin if I don't put the vent or AC on? Would CAI affect this or did I screw up the computer when I removed the battery cables? Thoughts?

I get the hot air too and I'm still stock. I just blast it at a cool temp for a sec and shut it off. Seems to usually close the right vents and fix the problem. Cai won't have anything to do with that.

Do you have any catback or muffler mods also...or just the K&N CAI at the moment?
