Paint it Hemi Orange and run

I am going to use this tread for my intake work. So far the start is a nice proved Fastman 847 TB. Dan opened it up a bit and worked the flyplate. I painted it Hemi Orange.

I threw on my dual air filter set and called it a day.

Next up is the 6.1L intake manifold and adapter for my heads.

looking forward to seeing the progress. You should make a garage thread so your mods are all in one place.

So an update to the ride.

I have yet to be able to find a dyne shop that can do the all wheel drive the Commander needs. The upgrades to the car are just too much for my Diablo Intune to handle and I require the custom tune
Now with that said, my throttle response if off the hook. The car drives like a banshee and I can hit 70mph in a few seconds; I will dust a charger fairly easy now... even the 6.1 and almost the 6.4.
I cannot wait to clean up the program to match the air intake with the exhaust profile in order to dial it in.

I have no pictures yet, still have not added the 6.1 intake. I am doing a bit more research on it lately and found that many in the LX community actually favor not doing it?!

I may buy some junkyard heads and work those instead. If I can find a pair cheap I am thinking that will be the route I go.
I just hit 100K on the motor and it is kind of time to conduct a rebuild really. Could be time to plan the new crank and maybe a small oversize to the bore.. nothing major, maybe .060 over? with a stroker crank possibly? I do not want to go crazy, but maybe make the sleeper awaken so to speak.
If I did it the budget has to be prepared, maybe $2000 for the total with machining included. I am thinking that would be new valve (manly super race flow), bowl work, port match all flow ports/polish, deck mill, crank bore, shot peen rods, KB pistons, clean and paint.

Tougher choice would be to get a donor motor or buy a block?

Ugh....

A 6.1 Charger must not have rolled on it very hard for your 5k Commander to "dust it." Almost 1,000 lbs less weight and a horsepower advantage. Not saying it didn't happen, but I'm skeptical.

True enough, not many would think much of an XK until it is too late. My curb weight is 6570, measured at my last change of station move before I loaded it.
I have only removed the old exhaust system so the weight might be lower by 70 pounds now.
After I had to change the tranny out, the 'new' one has had a couple of mods done to it. Nothing that will make a race car out of it by any means. A pressure plate was upgraded to something better, solenoids were upgraded, and the shift profile is completely custom.
But no, I am not a race car... yet. 4.10 gears and the new motor work will turn heads. I will be doing the turbos, I got a majority of the kit for free from a friend very recently who switched out to the whipple. I am going to build for twin vortex's.
I am still going to stick to moderate upgrades to the block and heads, mostly just to strengthen it up now for the boost. Twin turbo is common now and will post me around 700hp, I am just going to copy pre-existing designs and purchase the off the shelf stuff to do it. I can get turbos for free in the size I need, so I get to 'cheat' on the total cost where it would be big bucks for others.

Ok I am going to setup my garage link. My disl pipes are ready for install. I will be hooking up twin vortex 1500 turbos, I only just finish rebuilding two that were completely toasted that I got for free after selling an upgrade to the guys rig.
I have an amazing amount of crud to pipe and figure out, but hard part is done... Getting turbos.
The turbos will mount where the spare tire was, going stealth location

And lets not forget, I would ASSUME that you had all the traction and the charger had LESS. The fewest tire rotations in the 1/4 mile WIN.

true! But more than likely it was as Kurt said, the other driver was most likely dumb. Even with my disappointing dyno sheet, the commander is more than speedy than it aught to be.

This thread will live agin once I get home and begin the engine project. The motor gets yanked, cleaned and prepped, then the stage two kit gets applied. Although I may option for other changes while it is fully disassembled, possibly a new crank and different pistons. I need to build it to take the abuse of pressurized air.

A better picture of what it currently looks like before I parked it for my field trip.
