I seem to beable to access the main forum, but when I click on new posts or try to open a post I get to the pictures (top of page) but nothing opens up. When I click on the X to close the page I get the program not responding message and then have to click "close now". This does not happen everytime but it does at least 50% of the time. This is the only forum that I am having trouble with and I frequently visit 4-5 other forums each day several time a day.

Your browser may be still loading the page. I switched to FireFox and noticed it takes longer to load the page when I click on New Posts. I have not attempted to adjust settings on the browser, but I suspect it is attempting to access some of the links on the page it is building to "speed things up".

I frequently get a lockup also and I use AOL so it must be the web site and not the browser.

I am also a tech, ive noticed this on a few systems, mainly sites that use forums/php based apps, but check out ccleaner and run the registry cleaner. Also try updating java, restoring IE to default and clear your prefetch with tunexp. If none of that help let me know we need to look at the add-ons that load, could be a acticex control. You run hijack yet?

We shouldn't have to do that much just to get a web-site to work. If these were cars, they would be recalled. Whoever is running this site, ought to to try to use it too. I also notice a lot of advertising click monitoring stuff being displayed in a status line while waiting for the page to finish loading.

Although I have no understanding of the various terms Casino just used, I do know that I've been getting dropped, locked out, half loaded for over a week now.
I visit 3 car forums, surf auto products, don't have anything on my system that it didn't come with.
I've been assuming all along that the problem is at my end and had one of my more computer literate sons check it out this weekend.
No problem found, so today we accessed the site from my sons pc at his facility.
Same results.....so, I'm really glad to hear I'm not alone here.

I ran everything I have this weekend.
Spybot, AVG virus, registry easy cleaner and defragged just cause.
No changes.
When you change pages look at the bottom of your screen where it usually says done.
If you look close enough it will tell you what's loading.
It usually starts with something like www.jeep commander... mine freezes on what looks to be a pop up or advertisement.
Look pretty close because it hapens fast.
Don't believe it's my pc at this time.

OK here is another new problem for me.
If you use the quick links or search drop down menu, the drop downs go behind the advertisement. Thus blocking part of the drop down menu.
If you cursor down through the drop down menu to select something the advertisement expands blocking more of the menu.

What's up with that?

XP SP3 IE8 also

(2) adds that this happens with is penzoil and escalade. Car ID add all works fine.

Adds that block drop down menus for Search and Quick Links
Penzoil
Cadilac Escalade

Adds that don't block the drop downs.
Car ID
Progressive Insurance
Borla Exhaust
Superchips
SprintBooster
Ford 2010 Mustang

I've experienced the ads blocking menu items as well. Somebody is doing a poor job on software quality control.

As a Lifetime member I'm assuming you don't see the adds at the top.
I also see the adds, I know they slow things down but they have never locked my computer as others indicated.
