Commander cloth seats - do these static shock like older Jeeps

I'm planning on getting a Commander soon, but was curious about the new cloth seats in the Commander.

I have a 2003 Grand Cherokee with cloth seats, and I get a massive ZAPPPP! when I get out of the vehicle and touch the door. Toyota cloth seats are notorious for this too.

For those who have the Commander with cloth seats:

Are the new fabric materials in the new Jeep Commander cloth seats conductive enough to dissipate the static shock? Or does one need to upgrade to leather to eliminate this annoying hassle?

Got the cloth seats, no problem at all with static elec. Might depend on where you live, I'm in the Pacific NW, may be too humid here to have that effect. (We've had three Cherokees, '86, '89, & '96, all with the cloth, 1st two in TX, traveled through AZ with 2nd two - no problems.)

i got the cloth seats and i live in AZ... i have been zapped once or twice, and i am trying to determine if it has something to do with the amount of time i have been driving, or if it has something to due with what i may be wearing, or if i have something in my hands. i had a VW Jetta that i was constantly being zapped in, but the Commander hasn't schocked me half that bad.

If you have rubber soled shoes, this can increase the chance of a zap with cloth seats.

If you have leather soled shoes, this will help dissipate the charge.

Leather seats almost eliminate shock regardless of shoes.

The charge buildup occurs when you drag yourself across the cloth seat upon exit. Leather may seem like a vanity purchase, but after three years of Zapping I'm ready to ditch cloth.

No problems with my cloth seats- have never been shocked or felt like there was static build up. Never been to fond of leather seats.

I almost wish that I would not have read this listing... Sure enough... I now notice that just about everytime I get out of the Commander I receive a shock... Hopefully this is being caused by the dry conditions we currently have here in Texas... fingers crossed...
