Vibration until I gas it, or let off the gas only at 1800 rpm's???

Thinking I might find some answers here...

06 Commander 3.7L Stock, I love this thing, just trying to solve this little issue???

I get a vibration, like a shudder you could call it...only at right around 1800 rpm's???

If I let off the gas and drop the rpm's it goes away. If I give it more gas it goes away.

I am trying to point myself in a direction, I like to and have always troubleshot to the least expensive fix and gone up from there...just looking for a place to start...

thanks, any help would be great!

Edit: I have new plugs, new Mobil1 synth and FRAM oil filter, new air filter. Right at 65000 miles and no other issues.

welcome to the forum!

For starters check if your throwing any codes. To do this turn your key three times from the off position to the acc position. There is a video on youtube on how to do this. Did you notice this after you put in a new air filter? If so check that you put that little hose that goes into the air box in tightly. A small air leak would cause stuttering.

Dose she idle higher than before?

She idles the same since I got her. I will check the lines, I did remove the entire intake to do the plugs. I just find it odd that it only happens at 1800 rpm's? That is what really gets me....my mind takes me to a fuel filter issue? Transmission slipping?
I will also look up the you tube video for the code check.

Thanks.

I just got my '06 3.7L back from the dealer for the exact same symptom. Felt like the transfer case or transmission was vibrating/shuddering like mad. Only during light load, 1600-1800 rpms. Give it a little more throttle and it smooths out when the transmission would kick down out of OD, or let off the throttle and the vibration would stop immediately. The Commander wasn't throwing any codes.

Turns out it was the right rear wheel speed sensor. Dealer claims that for some odd reason, only under these conditions, the loss of signal from this sensor put the torque converter into a form of mechanical arrhythmia where it would lockup and unlock many times per second.

It seems odd to me as I can't figure out why it would only manifest itself under these exact conditions, but it's like I have a new vehicle. Smooooooth and more responsive, particularly under load.
