Thinking about trading in the XK

Maybe it's because I haven't been wheeling in so long or just because my wife got a new car but recently I've been tossing around the idea of trading in the commander. I haven't gotten an appraisal on it but I imagine the trade in value is a lot lower than my loan balance of 17k. I wouldn't trade if I were more than a couple grand upside down.

I've been seriously considering a used Touareg with the air suspension. Im looking for something off road worthy but something a little more comfortable and more luxurious. I'm not worried about gas mileage because how much worse could it be than the commander!? Although it would be nice to get better gas mileage. Some other options I've considered we're 2011+ Grand Cherokee limiteds with air suspension, LR3, and XC90. I'd love to have air suspension ...if you couldn't tell.

My wife hates how indecisive I am with everything especially cars but my taste changes. I plan on heading up to flagpole knob either thursday or Friday next week to try to get out of the funk I'm in. I've always said I'll never trade the Jeep and I love it so much but after looking around at my options it seems like the grass is greener.

Guys you gotta talk me out of it. What do you think?

I can't tell the year and make of yours but I don't think the VW or XC90 are going to be off-road worthy. That might help you in deciding to keep yours.

If you really wanted to part with your XK, I would go with the 2011 Grand. The Toureg is a nice car but I have a friend with one and his wife drives it because the suspension is so stiff it hurts his back.

Good luck. I am partial but think you should stay in the XK club for a while.

Its sad to hear that. I dont think there is any other vehicle that gives you the ride, off-road capability, classic style, third row (if you have one), aftermarket possibility, and American name than the Jeep Commander.

I had a Volkswagon Beetle Traded it with my truck for a sweet 09 Commander Limited I' ll never look back Volkswagons are a very high maintenance vehicles and the service costs are very expensive (example a little $10 micro switch in the door was $450 with labor. Never mind not that important I said . I could tell you other horror stories also. I know it wasn't a Toureg but still a Volkswagon !

I'm sorry but "VW" and "Off-Road" hasn't been effectively used together since people converted bugs into Baja Bugs or sand rails.

You say the word "Jeep" and you know it will go off road with ease. I'm very picky about what i drive and I drive all Jeeps, one JK, one Hemi XK, 4 XJ's and one MJ. They all ride like crap, use too much gas, have the aerodynamics of a brick, leak oil, but go anywhere and always get me home! I love Jeeps!

Air suspension = problems!!! Had a Range Rover on air suspension and cost a small fortune. Air compressor went bags perished, sensors failed.......would'nt touch anything with it. Was only a 5 year old car too. Be warned!!!!
