Transmission life

I have an 06 Commander with the 5.7 Hemi. I am noticing that that occasionally, though happening a little more often, when I start the vehicle and put it in gear it sometimes requires a higher RPM before it begins moving. In talking with a local 4wd shop, he indicated this might be a sign of a failing transmission.

Has anybody else experienced this? Has anybody had transmission failure, how many miles?

Thanks,

06' Commander w/ Hemi, AEM Brute CAI, Superlift 4" lift, BFG All Terrain (245/75/17), aftermarket 17" wheels, Tactical Armor front and rear bumper, Steel armadillo rock sliders.

91 Grand Wagoneer - SOA, resprung leaf springs plus add a leaf, 33" tires, cross over stearing, 4.56 gears, high flow exhaust, rebuilt 360 .030 over plus cam, Future mods: ARB Air lockers (front & rear) Heavy Duty Bumpers (front & rear), 12,000 lb winch, fender cutting & flares to fit 35" tires...

545rfe is a very sturdy transmission. As long as you dont beat on it and change the fluid regularly, it should last a long time. Check the fluid in the transfer case and the transmission.

Im familiar with what you are saying, I think.. Sometime's in order to get her moving it takes a lil throttle but there is no slipping, grinding or hesitation. Is it slipping or not going into gear easily? Take in consideration your lift, tires and added weight from bumpers and armor

Mine does it. I think I read in another thread it could be a cracked transfer case filter.

Correct, like rjhj has mentioned, it could be caused by a cracked transmission filter.

Get it looked at. Mine started that a bit ago and now the trans is getting rebuilt to a tune of $2500.

I do tow at the maximum limit 6-8 times a year.
