Torque converter issues

I bought a 2006 Jeep Commander approximately 2 yrs ago with 36,000 miles on it when purchased. 8,000 miles into ownership of the vehicle I had to have the torque converter replaced (luckily it was covered under warranty). 13 months later I am looking at replacing the torque converter yet again and this time it is going to cost me 1,600 to repair through the dealership. The mechanic said he can't find any obvious reasons why the torque converter would be faulty again. I figured it would be warrantied through Chrysler, however service manager tells me this torque converter is only covered for 12 months/12,000 miles (whichever comes first). Is this a common issue on this year/model commander ?

I think I'd take it to a transmission shop for another opinion and price.

I have an 06 XK and have not had any issues. (125,000) I did have an earlier jeep that eat torque converters, but it was before Chrysler's time. Think S10 Chevy drive trains.
