Talking anyone running 35's

I am getting ready to start modding my commander. I would like to run 35's on it. I will post picks along the way. I am on nights this weekend, so I will post my before picks monday. Any idea's that anyone has would be appreciated. I have an 06 limited with the hemi and the QD II, it also has front and rear auto locking differentials, along with the offroad package. It should be a pretty mud hungry machine once I am done.

no, they were an option on the window sticker. I know the QD II is supposed to transfer power to the wheels that need it. So I am not sure what the lockers realy do for me. I do know that I can not get a tire to spin for anything.

The QDII transfers power front to rear axles as needed. The electronic limited slips in the differentials transfer power side to side as needed. I will be very interested to see what happens if and when you get 35's under the beast. Personally, I think thats a little tall for a Commander and suggest also you talk to some experts about the effect on the axles and gears. You must be going with a humongous lift or doing a lot of cutting?? john

thanks for setting me strait on the electronic limited slip diffs. I kinda thought that was the case but not for sure. I am just putting the rusty's 4.5" lift on, no cutting. Not sure if the 35's will fit or not. Does anyone know what rearend the commanders have under them?

Thanks for the welcome. I will have to see if 35's will fit or not. I don't want to do any cutting. I was thinking about 4.5" backspacing for the rims. Has anyone else put on the rusty's 4.5" lift yet?

Just so you know, larger tires cause the clutch paks to wear out much more quickly then stock tires on clutch driven limited slip differentials. Generally speaking its not recommended on TracLok (I presume these electronic limited slips are basically the same functin wise) to not exceed tires greater then 31". As to lift, you will NOT be able to fit 35's with 4 1/2" of lift, but you should be able to fit 33" tires. Cant advise you on backspace for a Commander but I presume the kit manufacturer can. john

Axles probably should be okay with 35's... you will most likely have to regear though.

If you have the options same as mine it would be 3.73 elsd...... With the Hemi on 33 it probably would not hurt but if you fit 35 under it I would re-gear.

According to rockcrawler a 4" lift will allow 33"-34" tires.

Just found this one

Partnered with Superlift Suspensions, American Expedition Vehicles and supported with donations from Mopar and ARB 4x4. Base vehicle is 2006 Commander Limited with 5.7 L HEMI and Quadratrac II 4wd. Prototype 4.5-inches suspension lift allows the Off Road Commander to be fitted with massive 35-12.50 x 17 BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires. The tires are covered with custom fabricated wheel flares and a heavy guage steel rock rail. Mopar accessories: front brush guard, roof mounted aluminum cargo basket, prototype tail lamp guards.
