Long range fuel tanks

I finally found the info I was looking for on long range fuel tanks. I read in an Australian Jeep site where someone used a 110 LRA fuel tank on their Commander. Here's some links.

I couldn't find the post where one guy said he had it on his Commander and the other wanted one. I think he had it in the spare area.

Let us know what they say about the US version... that would be the best mod!

RIP - Silver '06 Limited; 5.7 Hemi; 2" TerraFlex Lift; 255/70R17 Bridgestone Dueler REVOS, Horizontal Inclinometer, Signal Frog Antenna Ball, Surco Safari 50"x50" Roof Rack, GetLost4x4 bumper, Bulldog 9k Winch, GetLost4x4 Rock Rails - (should have added a snorkel)

I was thinking about moving the spare wheel and use that space between the frame rails there for a second fuel tank. Now my thinking did not get very far yet. Anybody else has elaborated a similar plan any further?

Found a U.S. site. We may be better off trying to find an existing tank that fits. Even from race applications.

Here's an ebay seller that makes custom tanks,

Didn't auto manufacturers move the gas tanks from the rear of the vehicles because too many people were getting hit in the rear and the gas tanks were exploding/catching fire?

I'm not sure how these guys mount their tank on a Commander, but some of the pics on their site show rear mounted tanks, which can't be very safe.

There are two tanks available over here, both go in the spare wheel area and require the wheel to be relocated (on the roof, there is no carrier avail as yet!).

Brown Davis:

Don't know much about them, most common here is the LRA, which I believe is an aux tank, 67litres approx, not a replacement. There are a couple of WHs in the Melbourne Jeep Owners Club that have it, no Commanders as yet..
