Talking How many have you guys have gotten pulled over for tint?

Hey I wanted to ask the guys with real dark tint if theyd had any problems with the cops, since the commanders windows are so big and so many. Im looking to get 5% all around soon and wanted some input. Thanks

I've had at least 5% on all my vehicles, and never had a problem. It really depends on where you're at locally. My buddy had 5% for a week and was pulled twice. That was Wilmington, NC. Stay away from there.

I'm in NY and have 20% tint (on my 4Runner) and have never been pulled over... Same thing is true for my last 3 vehicles as well. I guess the cops around here don't really care too much about window tint.

I live in New Jersey and have been pulled over twice in my Commander and about 3 times in my Ford Explorer. New Jersey is really tough on tinting but I'll always have my vehicles tinted!

It all depends on your local laws. Here in VA, it's 50% in the front, 35% on back, but with multi-passenger vehicles (which is where any SUV falls), you can have as dark as you want on the back.

I've been pulled before, but that was when I had my car, and had 20% all around. No repair-order was given, so I just paid the fine, and kept on with it.

Tint in Phoenix AZ

you can basically do solid black limo tint here in Phoenix. technically you are not supposed to, but due to the heat & sun the police & tint shops overlook it.
I do know one person who got a ticket for tint being too dark but they were also DUI, so I think they threw the tint ticket in as a bonus.

In AZ, it is legal to do pure black on the rear doors, cargo windows, rear window and above the AS1 line. Only the front windows and below the AS1 line have restrictions.

But like you said, they typically will not give you a ticket for any tinting violations unless you do something else dumb.

On many windshields you will see a small marking at the outer edge about 2" to 3" down from the top of the glass. That is the AS1 line. Most states have additional wording on the tint restrictions for vehicles without an AS1 line.
