Transfer Case Issue

Good Afternoon all,

I'm hoping you folks can help shed some light on some issues recently diagnosed with my Commander.

I have googled till my eyes slammed shut to no avail have I been able to find the information I am seeking. Perhaps your google powers are stronger than mine?

2006 Jeep Commander Limited V8 Hemi 4x4

1. Transfer Case Position Sensor Part# 68256976AA

2. Front Control Module Part # 4692024AL

3. Front Differential Bearing Part # 52089516AB

My question regarding these issues in order of importance.

1. How difficult are the bearings to replace?

2. Do the modules require programming at any point Before, during or after installation?

3. are you aware of any sites that will guide me in my quest to replace these parts?

I have ALLDATA on my pc, Sadly it only shows maintenance schedules and such and doesn't go into any detail at all how or even where these parts are located.

4. What websites would you recommend to hunt these parts down?

Thank you kindly for any information you can spare shedding light on any of these issues.

The front control module needs to be programmed from everything I've read. So that means a trip to the dealer unfortunately. Probably going to be about $1k to $1200 for that.

Position sensor could be a sign of the shift motor going out which is plug and play. So I'm assuming if it is just the position sensor that would be plug and play.

I don't do axles but that bearing can be done anywhere.

Thank you kindly SAL,

One question. Are the bearings internal to the drive axle assembly?

UPDATE:

So I got my Jeep XK back today from the Dealership.

I asked them to reflash the Front Control Module since I had DTC C140F, They did ofc but failed to reset the DTC and told me "oh the same issue is present so we recommend replacing both componants"

Once I got home I took the negative cable off and let sit for about 20 minutes and bam, no more check engine, and I am now able to put my Jeep in 4 wheel low.

I still need to get the Front Differential Bearings replaced. Is there a safety concern with these? or can I putt around town o.k?
