Pcv?

Am I looking at a PCV issue or something worse? Lots of smoke coming out of the exhaust. Can see oil coming out the pipe. Folks were asking if the car was on fire as we limped to the nearest grocery parking lot. Concern here is there is also oil on top of the engine on the driver's side.

Thanks Guys

What engine and how many miles?

Looks like the Hemi, when was the last time you've cleaned/serviced the PCV?

Its rare for a PCV to fail so bad to suck that much oil into the intake, but possible. The way I understand the Hemi's PCV to work, its also a catch can and needs to be emptied periodically (I could be very wrong on that, look it up in the O.M. and/or service manual). But if you've got a lot oil collected in the PCV and its getting sucked into the intake, sure it could create the problems you're describing.

Have you checked the oil level, to see if its dropping indicating its leaking into something it shouldn't.

Thank you Mongo - this 5.7 just went to 115k and will be laid to rest

Pulling heads tomorrow to get a better look at what went wrong. Guessing valve seat dropped.

Wow! What was the final result of the autopsy?
Sorry to hear about the engine. Did you swap in a new one?
