Just bought a 2007 4.7l v8 Jeep commander and there is no mechanical fan, is this normal?

Garage
for the 4.7 you should (variations occur) have a fluid connection to your fan.
Reading the manual:

4.7L ENGINE
The radiator cooling fan used on the 4.7L engine is a
hybrid design. The hybrid fan system consist of a low
speed viscous driven mechanical fan and a electrical
fan.

The 5.7 and diesel have the hydraulic fan with no electric fan.

My 2007 4.7 flex fuel has a 2 speed electric fan but no mechanical fan,no clutch or fan on the water pump. I know because I got real close and personal with it last weekend. I had to replace the fan. A piece of a stick got caught between the fan & radiator, & stalled the motor. It blew the 50 amp fuse. I replaced it but it kept blowing the fuse every 2-3 weeks. New fan spins much faster. I'm kinda glad it didn't have a mechanical fan, it would have shredded the radiator with that stick.
