Question Still looking

I'm still looking for the location of the transfer case vent in the engine compartment or the top of the tube where ever that may be, I have a 5.7 with Quadradrive2, any clues would be good a picture would be GREAT.

From the service manual this picture but it does not show where it goes in the engine compartment. ?? Anyway you can find the transfer case end and follow up??
Number 4 is the vent hose.

The transmission vent hose is attached to the RH fender well top towards the front close to the engine. I think the transfer case may be attached there as well.

Can you take the hose off the Transfer case and blow some compressed air through it to see where it comes out?

There is probably a white cap/valve on the end of the hose up in the engine compartment - be prepared to find it if too much air pressure is used. Searching the internet I found quite a few people that had that cap/valve melted because it was laying on a hot part of the engine. Right by the radiator overflow bottle there is a vent hose - probably for trans, but the transfer case one should look the same. On different engines it is just above the rear of the engine/trans by the firewall. I looked at mine and could not find. I didn't take off the engine cover which may help. If you ever find it - take a picture. Google "transfer case vent hose" and there are a lot of pictures of other jeep hose locations.

On my 3.7L V6 QTI Commander, the XFR Case Vent tube is right next to the transmission fill/dipstick tube* and engine oil dip stick. It attaches to the metal support for the trans dip stick tube.

It could be very different on the V8's, but it doesn't cost anything to take a look.

Yes, I know the V6 Commanders use the NAG1/W5A580 trans that comes without a dipstick. There is a sill a fill tube that is capped off, that is the tube I'm talking about.

I had a 2008 Rocky Mountain Edition Grand Cherokee with the 3.7L V-6 & QT I for 3 yrs before it was totaled & I bought my current Commander - and trust me, the layout of the engine compartment/location of all the dipsticks & vents etc. is alot different on the 4.7L V-8 compared to the 3.7L V-6 and I'm sure it is different on the Hemi's as well.

That may be true. But the drawing posted certainly shows the vent tube going in the direction toward the point I described. My points of reference may be off, since the dipstick tubes are probably in different locations on the V8's than the V6.

Look for it on the passenger side of the Intake Manifold, likely near the center or toward the rear of the passenger side of the intake manifold.

BTW, although it doesn't change what you said, the 4.7L V8 and 3.7L V6 are the same engine design, the V6 just has 2 Cylinders chopped off the front. Granted that makes for a lot of changes that does NOT makes a lot of parts interchangeable, but the basic design and layout is the same. But the 4.7L has to be shoehorned in since its bigger, and likely that can result in a lot of changes to the layout of other items in the engine compartment, so what you say is still valid.

The HEMI is a whole other beast, and the design and layout departs from the 4.7L a lot.
