Front Differential....

....just curious what you guy's use to fill your front differential. I just changed the fluids in both the front and rear diffs this morning and always have a hard time getting the fliud back in the front. I had bought a hose type thing from autozone that attaches to the 1 qt bottles of gear oil but it doesnt seem to work well. You have to tip the bottle upside down and stick it up between the radiator/fan and squeeze it just to get the fluid out. Lets just say i made a huge mess and probablly would have gone smoother with an extra pair of hands. Then I ran into a huge problem. The plastic end piece on the hose that goes into the differential fell off into the differential. I couldnt see it to get it out so it looks like there will be a buch of chewed up pieces of plastic in there. Ill have to rechange the oil here again in a few weeks when i do the transfer case so no particles mess anything up. Any suggestions on a better way to get the fluid in?

Thanks, ill have to go to sears tonight and pick one up. Also what fluid did you use in your transfer case adam. I read a few threads and some are saying the atf transmission fluid and some are saying its a special Mopar Gear Oil that you can only get at the dealer. Also i read that the manual has the wrong info in it. So what does it really take and how many quarts? Are you supposed to fill it up until it pours out the top fill plug?

The fluid for our t-case is available at the dealer only. It is Mopar NV 245/247/249 fluid. The QTI t-case uses ATF+4 fluid that you can pick up anywhere, the QTII and QDII use the special mopar gear oil. It takes slightly more than 2 quarts to change the fluid depending on the angle you are parked at so I suggest getting 3 to be safe. Fill the case untill the fluid comes out of the fill hole but you have to add it slowly or else it will run all over, there is some component to the t-case almost directly inside of the fill hole.

Awsome, I appreciate it. Just got back from sears and picked up one of those pumps you recommended. Hopefully that works out for me.

Thanks for the link, I do believe Amsoil when they say its just tractor hydro fluid but I still wouldn't try it untill mopar releases the specs on their stuff. I know all other mopar fluids that come in the mopar bottle have the weight and everything on the bottle but the NV245 fluid does not so I don't know for sure its 5W-30, It seems to be alittle thicker than that.
