Bar the paper work, I will be soon the owner of a Commander 5.7L Hemi V8 Limited, bought second hand with 24'000 KMS. (14'900 Miles). 2006 model. And should be able to pick it up this coming Friday.
Lots of people are asking why did I by a 5.7L V8 - given the pretty lame milage. My response is simple. Powerrrr (wink at Mr. Clarkson of Top Gear). Actually prices of petrol have halved, I do little milage
My daughter will be horse jumping next year, nothing high level, but her first competition year, and given te lack of pulling cars available, I needed a car able to pull two horses, in a horse box, in and out of muddy fields. And seat the occasional seven and MOST important, a air conditioning zone in the boot for our dog, an Australian Shepard.
All the things my Golf V R32 could not do.
As a memeber of the corvette forum, and having appreciate the members sharing of information, I felt it may be a good idea to join your forum. After all the 5.7L Hemi is no longer sold in Europe, and I think there may not be that many any way.
I could have gone for a diesel, but I find them noisy and smelly
I also own a Corvette Z06, 515 BHP, DRM cooling on the brakes, dpa and Hawk Hps+ rotors and disks, OMP bar and harnesses. Which I use on track in Europe (Dijon, Le Mans, Bresse, Monza and maybe Spa next year.)
So I am a V8 fan
Off roading - well I live in Switzerland and even at home I am at 396M above sea level. (1299 Feet). So snow, steep gradients, off road in Mountains etc is our lot. Think Stelvio Pass in the snow.
I have joined your forum, as I am member of the corvette forum and enjoy the exchange of information and shared experiences. Also, as the Hemi is no longer sold in Europe, I am not sure there are many around.
So my first question, how many 5.7L Hemi V8, Limiteds, Black, left the factories in 2006.
For reference I have 1 of 515 2008 Atomic Orange 2008 Corvette Z06.
So I hope I am welcome to join as foreigner.
