Emission leak code at lower fuel levels

When I first bought my 06 XK limited, it would pop up a code for a (slight) emission leak. I could clear it but it would come back about the time my tank got down to about a quarter tank. I figured it was a leaky gas cap so I installed a new MOPAR gas cap. Next time I got down to a quarter tank, the code popped back up even with the new gas cap. The code says the leak is minor but it still lights up the check engine light.
If it is not the gas cap, I am not sure where else to look especially since it seems to be related to a low tank of fuel. Anyone else run into this situation? Suggestions on how to locate leak?

There is a sensor for the fuel tank (can't remember what it is called) that senses the pressure in the fuel tank for the emission system. I had this fail on my Commander and I would get the same code for a small leak. It can be the sensor itself or the rubber seal around the sensor. It is replaceable and is easy to replace. The new sensor did not have the seal with it so I used old seal with some RTV to seal it when I put in the new sensor. That has been two years now and have not had any more codes.

I looked up the sensor - It is called the Leak Detection Pump

Hope this helps

Dan

Thanks. I have googled the part and know what it looks like but cannot find any info on where it is located. Any info on where it is located?

Never mind. I was able to find lots of references to this item on the Grand Cherokee and found that it was located just behind the left rear wheel. Checked there and found mine in same location.
From what I have found so far, leaks codes are reported as small, medium and large. Small is really small but a failed/failing leak detection pump appears to fall into the small category. Need to add this to my to-do list.
