I am an experienced metal fabricator and I am seriously considering building an external roll cage, my own front pumper/skid plate, and a swing away rear bumper/spare mount/gas tank mount,

There are enough people that have these rigs and wheel them that if you started making this kind of stuff, you could probably make decent money. Good luck. I wish I had your skillset.

Just finished some 3D measurements of the body of the jeep. This would be pretty easy to fabricate and make it removable. I think I am going to fab one up. Anyone know for sure what size tubing they use on these things?

Is this just for looks or a serious roll cage? As an aircraft structural engineer, I have seen several such cages and none were capable of acting as serious roll cage. In fact, they could be downright dangerous by trapping people inside when the cage collapses. Very difficult to maintain structural integrity unless it is integrated with the main body in several places and that would defeat the removable feature you are seeking. I have rolled my CJ7 before and have been in others Wranglers that suffered a roll with multiple tumbles and the stress on a roll cage is enormous especially with a vehicle as heavy as a XK. Only way I would ride in an XK with an external cage would be if the cage had support braces that were anchored solidly to the body.
Another angle, that external cage is great at catching tree limbs and doing body damage that would otherwise brush by with just some paint scratches. As for tube size, you would need a very strong tube that would add a lot of weight - a lot more than you might expect.
Good luck.

I was thinking more for looks than any sort of real roll over protection.
