My baby made it cross country!

From New York to LA in six days, my Commander made the trip with no issues! Smooth ride the entire way across. Aside from a couple of weird vibrations and the TPMS light (and of course the absolutely garbage MPGs) it was hitch free! We took Route 70 until the Grand Canyon then drove to Las Vegas and then to LA

For anyone deciding to make the drive that has Flex Fuel E85 on their truck, I found that all the way up until I hit the midwest (so colorado and west), I was able to find Flex Fuel stations using the GasBuddy app. Until we hit the Midwest, we found that E85 was considerably less per gallon than regular gas (generally around $1.99/gal everywhere). It saved us probably $100-150 in total. After Colorado it was only about a .15 cent difference, sometimes way more sometimes less.

I would highly suggest that if you want to travel cross country to use that app or any other and find E85 stations. Where I'm living now in LA, regular gas is $3.05, and the E85 station that I visit has it at $1.99/gal. I'm saving over $12 per tank of gas, it's unbelievable.

Inno makes a surfboard rack that they sell on Amazon that I also must recommend to any surfer on here. It was $135, really affordable. The surf rack actually has a locking mechanism so that only someone with wire cutters or a large hammer could break it to steal a surfboard (but then again who needs a surfboard in Kansas). The board was perfectly secure on the roof and I didn't worry about it flying off for even a second.

Thumbs up Congrats

Great to hear good things that can happen to XK owners besides finding a problem and fixing it yourself. Live it up.

Awesome!! Iíve done cross country twice now: West to east in a Ford Focus and many years later east to west in a Honda Pilot.

That was my second time too! Though the first time I did it was in my old 2001 Suburban. Don't know how long I could have lasted in a little Focus without getting claustrophobic!

Haha, yeah the focus was TIGHT since I had all my stuff in there. Driving the mountains in CO was not pleasant lol. Definitely a lot cheaper of a trip than the pilot. I can't imagine what the Commander was doing on a full tank!
