Tow package installed?

My XK has the looks of having the tow package installed (tow/haul button, 7-pin wiring harness, 2 inch receiver). Though when I look at the build sheet it is not listed. Is this something that could have been added on later? Is there a way for me to find this out? I can't seem to find a listed on what the differences might be for having vs not having the tow package.

My guess would be that the 'tow/hall' button came standard on all Commanders.

In terms of the wire harness and hitch not being on the build sheet, DIY types and folks like U-Haul do these types of installs all the time.

Should have been a cowboy...

Very suttle in the listing of the build sheet - here is part of mine with the only indication in red. Was listed near the end. Post a picture of the tow hitch and wire connections, may be after market and picture will let us decide.

Also curious, is there a way to tell if the receiver is class III or IV? That would be pretty telling as the tow package came with IV, while I would imagine aftermarket would likely only install III since that would cover the towing capacity.

Here's a better picture. Looks like 4 bolts hold the receiver to the frame directly above the receiver.

If the receiver has the four bolts and bolted to the crossmember, that is a factory hitch. And also if you look at the plug cover. It says Chrysler on it.
That is also a factory 7 point plug. If you look just behind that plug. There should be the old school flat 4 wire plug behind it. It will be secured to the body.
Who knows or who cares whether it was done at the factory or not. You have all OEM stuff. Just clean up that rust. And you're good to go.

It sure looks like a factory job, but I took a couple shots of the underneath on my 06. Note wire and bolt positions and compare to yours.
Could be a dealer installed a factory assembly.

Thanks for the info. I guess more of the question would be if it's class 3 or 4? I'm trying to figure out if I can tow 6500# or 3500#. I don't care where it was done either, but the tow rating is important when looking to buy a camper.

My Jeep turned 12 years old this month. And it still looks brand-new inside and out.I don't really care where that flat 4 wire trailer plug is. I don't use it anyway.
Your vehicle is a few years newer. They do make small subtle changes from year to year. And it's also a Chrysler product. So you never know what you're going to get. Don't fret over it and get on down the road.
