Brand New to Jeep

Ok, first I have to say thank you to all that participate on this forum. Everyone here made it easier to purchase our new 2008 Commander Sport.

We currently live in Chicago and with the awesome winter storms, gave us the chance to test our new addition to the family.

WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This thing handles like a dream in 10" of fresh snow....and plows through the 3 foot snow drifts like they are nothing!!!!

Our unit only has the 3.7 L V6 with the QT1 but I feel like it can accomplish anything!!!!

Anyone have a similar setup and have off road stories?
My family is moving to Anderson, SC can't wait to get out and explore!

Mine is the '06 with the 3.7 and QT1.

Although we don't get the snow Chicago gets, this thing has done very well in the snow we did get last year.

This is my first Jeep and first 4x4 as well.

We are making a drive to Colorado the day after Christmas and I am very confident in the abilities of this wonderful truck.

As much as I want a Wrangler, I am now seriously looking at the Commander. I drive a truck for a living, and get bounced around pretty good, so something with a leather interior would be nice!!

Congrats on your new ride!

Send some of that snow to PA! I want to go out and play too! The ice storms we just had gave me a chance to tryout the ABS and traction control (cool stuff), but I want snow.Enjoy your Commander!-43

Obviously reading your message you really like your Jeep Commander. I had the same experience when I purchased the Commander. It’s just a great vehicle that feels like a “luxury-ride” (quiet and plush interior), but still has great off-road capability. The Jeep Commander takes you comfortably to your off-road experience (driving on the expressway), and once you get to the off-road part of your journey, it performs very well.

The difference between Quadra-Trac I and II is a rather technical discussion; but reducing it to its most elemental level, it is simply that Quadra-Trac II has a low-range gearing feature making it slightly more capable for off-road driving. With this said, you won’t be disappointed with a Quadrac-Trac I equipped vehicle. Quadra-Trac I works very well when running off-road. I usually use the “normal” high-range (what you have with Quadra-Trac I), and only use the low-range feature available in Quadra-Trac II when negotiating very steep inclines, severe mud/clay terrain, and rock-climbing.
