oversized oil filter for 5.7

I have been looking on line, but can't get a simple answer, what will be an over size filter for my 5.7, K&N and Mobile 1.
I went yesterday to advance auto parts, and compared the stock fitting to some larger sizes that I looked up in other forums and it did not look right. what are you guys using?

There may not be enough room for a larger filter.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the advantage of one additional inch on an oil filter?

Obviously a longer filter will have more filtration capability. In old V8's it was simple to add a longer filter as it was no where near the frame or suspension. On the Commander, the 5.7 filter is really close to the front frame and the threading needs to be taken into consideration as it has to be able to fully unscrew without binding up.

Still why??? Go with OEM or WIX 57899XP or Fram Ultra and don't look back. Your rationale does not make sense even with extended intervals and synthetic oils. The 3.7 & 4.7 should be run with full synthetic due to potential sludge issues which are common among all manufacturers of this vintage. The 5.7 is more forgiving but full synthetic is the way to go.
