I started the teardown on my 06 commander today to replace this busted 5.7 still looking for another long block to rebuild don't want to drop $2000 on a engine that I only need the heads, block, and rotating assembly from. Already have a rebuild kit being sent to me hopefully I can have this girl running in 2 weeks.

It dropped a valve and busted out a piston from the back of the block most likely

Here it is generally cheaper to buy an engine from a wreck than rebuild.

That's the plan I found one that was wrecked but the owner said it had a lifter rattle before he wrecked it I'm going to strip both my busted one and his down clean and inspect everything and build a better engine

Awesome. Keep the pics coming! Love learning.

Is the transmission easy to disconnect and remove?
