It's finally time to say Goodbye

Well, it was a great 12-year run. But it's time to say goodbye. This was a great forum with a lot of great content. Thanks to all who helped me over the years. I was actually sad today trading in the Commander, but I'm not Jeepless. I have a new ugly Jeep to replace the old one.

Thanks again for everything over the years!

Now Gone: TJ 00 4 liter, 2" RE Lift and shocks, a few extra skidplates, and not much else, 'cause all the money goes to:

Now HIS: XK 07 Limited Hemi, 2" RR lift and shocks, JK Rubicon wheels (255/75 r17 BFG MT), 1.5" Spidertrax spacers, Rocky Road Supersliders, Mopar heavy-duty rails and roof rack. Get Lost 4x4 Rear Tire Carrier. 4xGuard Belly Skid. Oh, and a spiffy dash mat.

You know, after all these years, you should know the answer to that!

New rims and tires are a birthday present, will pick up tomorrow from my brother, I almost didn't want to post this pic without them. A bed cover is needed to haul my work stuff. Later plans include a rack system, and maybe even a roof-top tent. My 12-year old daughter has just decided that jeeps and off-roading are the coolest things ever and wants to drive it.

Let us know what the ride is like compared to the XK. Your thoughts on what it would be like on a 10-12 hour trip.

It definitely rides more like a "Jeep" than the Commander. Firmer suspension. People complain that the solid front axle makes it "wander" in the lane. I haven't noticed that any worse than any other vehicle I've driven.

One of the first things I did on the Commander was bigger tires. That required a 2" lift and bashing the pinch welds. Today I put the same size tires on the Gladiator and it was as easy as could be. No rubbing, no problem. And, the spare fits in the spare spot!

What did the Gladiator cost you - if you don't mind me asking?

I'd also be curious to hear, how much they gave you for your XK on the trade-in.

It definitely looks better with the new wheels and tires.
