Question Brake pad change

This question doesn't specifically apply to the XK but I didn't think it belonged in OT. If it does, please move.

I just changed the front pads on my wife's 2002 Malibu and the outboard pad was completely gone while the inboard one was mostly unused. Both sides were like this.

Is this just because I used the cheaper pads from Autozone? I didn't buy the cheapest ones but I also didn't spring for the expensive ones.

The ones I bought to replace them are Raybestos semi metallic so they should last a bit longer.

Any thoughts?

raybestos is a good brand. you shouldnt have any problems with them. they should wear evenly. you might want to regrease the caliper bolt pins. dont know why both sides would be like that.
