Flashing dashboard lights

Hey guys,

I was doing a search for this type of issue but seemed to only find where ALL the indicator lights would come on.

This is not my problem but similar.

When I am driving sometimes the lights behind the gauges will flash brighter then go back to normal.

If you are familiar with a clock radio or HT receiver that has a dim switch, it looks like someone is flipping the switch back and forth to dim and then normal.

No indicator lights are coming on during this time just lights going from normal, BRIGHT, normal, BRIGHT, normal, BRIGHT

It is not in any set pattern either so it does this very randomly.

Any thoughts from someone who this has happened to would be greatly appreciated.

Our commander has 37,000 so we are just out of the warranty period.. :-(

Thanks,

Steve

I hate to be the one to state the obvious, but are you sure its not dimming because your headlights are turning on and off? When you have your headlights switched in the auto position your lights will come on and off sometimes even during the day when your in a shade for a period of time. This will also dim your dashboard lights.

Ha Ha! Funny...

I don't have auto headlights on my vehicle.

While I am driving down the road, say 10pm (well after dark) the radio lights, and the lights behind the dash flicker bright then back multiple times and never in a set pattern. The dash lights never go out, but just keep flickering like that.

I don't notice that the headlights ever dim or brighten when this happens. Just seems to be the internal dash lights.

Now the light behind the control for switching from defrost to floor & panel is very dim. At night I can barely make out what I'm setting it on..

<sigh...>
