Front hitch for cooler\fishing rod holder

Hey everyone. I've been checking local truck shops for front hitches for 08 Commanders - and coming up with only rear. I saw one thread on a front hitch for a winch but nothing about a cooler\fishing rod rack setup.

I checked curtis hitches, they have nothing either.

Any one have experience with this? Thanks!

I would contact GetLost4x4 for the info on the front receiver hitch. Then you can get a hitch mounted holder like this from Cabela's or maybe GL4x4 can fab something.

Bright Silver 4.7L 2.25 RR/OME lift, Kumho KL71 265/70/17, Flashpaq, Lights, rack, intake, Super44, mopar skids, 4x belly guard, rear fog lights, MM9500 winch, GetLost4x4 winch mount

I got a prototype front hitch mount from GetLost4x4. It works great. It has a 2 inch square receiver that sticks out of the middle of the front bumper about 2 inches. Just enough to put the pin in. I'll post pics when i get back home.

I fab'd a rod holder for my reciever rack in the rear. A sheet of steel the length of the rack and the same height from top of rack to bottom. Welded some exhaust tubing for the rod holders. Painted it black. I drilled some holes so it bolts on to the rack, therefore is removable if you just want to use the rack seperately. I can post some pics if needed.

Front Hitch Mount

Here's some pictures of a front hitch mount that GetLost4x4 custom made for the Commander. I got a prototype from him to test. It works great for a portable winch or any other 2 inch receiver type accessory you would want to use. I'm sure it would work for a cooler/fishing rod holder.

It installs on the front steel bumper cross member that is underneath the plastic bumper cover (fascia).

Here in Ohio we are one of the states that mandate the use of a front license plate. So unfortunately for some people in some states this idea wouldn't be of use. Clever design though.

Ross (Getlost4x4) hangs out at expeditionportal dot com or
jeepforum dot com. But I imagine you could find someone else to build one
for a price.

Ohio is cursed with the front plate but when you are out of state....you could
get by without it. Unless you really did something to get the attention of a
trooper to get pulled over.

Or just mount the plate to one side or hang it lower. Heck, you could even make a plug to put it right into the receiver.
