Black Bear and Imogene Passes
It has been a few years since we did Black Bear it was more washed out than the time before. They open up the Pass with a Dozer and fix up any washouts or rock slides but we have had some big Summer storms.
The Commander did well but the off camber slight turn to the right will still make you pucker a bit and chew on the seat if you know what I mean?
A friend said a jacked up rig rolled right there a couple a years ago and there was fatalities.
Every time I go on one of these Passes up here I am amazed on where they put these roads all for the mining at the turn of the century, but now we are lucky enough to be able to wind our way through these beautiful mountains on these amazing Jeep roads.
A lot of places can brag of there scenery but to be able to drive through this many miles of 4x Jeep Roads is almost unheard of.
After half a dozen tight three back up switchbacks we dropped down to Telluride then up over Imogene Pass to Ouray. A much easier drive only rated a 4.
