(Mostly) Successfull Trip to Cody, WY!

This past weekend we took a little trip to Cody, Wyoming from Missoula, Montana to have some modification done to the XK. We left right after the kids finished soccer practice on Friday and drove through the night (about 8 hours) and found a nice little hotel to get some sleep.

On arrival, we called GetLost4x4 and a company representative came out and picked up our vehicle from us and even gave us a loaner for the next day (talk about customer service)!

The next morning, we stayed in contact with GetLost4x4 and found that there were some issues with our installation that would prevent all of our modifications from being installed. GetLost4x4 discovered that the rock-rail mounting system was a bit off for our XK, so they insisted on making the necessary adjustments and then ship the rails to our doorstep. Our winch had been backordered for a month and so hadn't yet arrived, but I was fully briefed on the installation procedure from the head GetLost4x4 tech. Also, there was something not quite the same with our XK, so the Overland bumper would have to be slightly modified - thankfully, the company did it on the spot at no cost to us!

While in Cody, we visited the Buffalo Bill museum and took in the sights which included some art work that was going to be auctioned off soon and some deer wandering the streets. I tried to pet one, but he was a bit shy.

After our XK was finished we linked back up at nearby park and took a quick trip to the GetLost4x4 Headquarters where the owner of the company explained all of the details about the installation and what we needed to do when our rails, skid plate, and winch arrived at home. We would have liked to have stuck around and discovered more about the "Land of Awesome" - and some of the great off-road trails - but our schedule was packed tight and we needed to get the kids home for soccer games. We did however manage to find a few geocaches in the area and still make it home on time. Here are a couple of the pics I took when we got home. Sorry for the poor quality, it was dark and I was tired.

Once I get all of my goodies installed, I'll be sure to throw some pics up again!

My thanks to all of the GetLost4x4 staff for making the trip fun and productive. Their professionalism and courtesy was great.

Looks great Polar! What are your plans to paint/coat your bumper?

I am having mine painted the metalic silver to match the Jeep. Suppose to have it finished out of paint tonight and hopefully installed w/ winch come Thursday.

I'm still rolling around in my head between a bed-liner type black or to paint match. I think it'd look good paint matched. Where are you getting yours done?

I am taking mine to a local powdercoat store for a perfect match if they can do it.

How much is that costing? I think I'll probably try to do it myself - in which case I'll probably go with the black bed-liner.

Yeah, i wanted to do that too, but the closest place that offers it is in Phoenix.

Ok, it's ugly. Hope it is functional, if you get the winch, the skidplates, and the sliders......Looks like you could park something on the bow.
