Rausch Creek 7/11/2009

First I have to say that Rausch Creek was amazing!!! Tougher than the badlands from a 'technical' point of view. Green can range from easy to really difficult. In my opinion Rausch Creek's Green is like the Badlands Yellow to Orange. To drive the point home, the typical Green trail that we went on would be like the "Purgatory" from The Badlands. Of course it is possible that the people I went with were not entirely truthful about the level of course we were on. Skid plate are essential.

My first photo is of a VW Toureg who went on their green trail. He stopped at this point and parked it and rode with a friend.

The following 3 photos are Green Trails.

Here's a little scenery!

Here are a few mud puddles!

Here's me going through a small hole.

By chance I ran into lonewolf from this forum going in the other direction through the same hole.

I still have a couple of more videos to upload.

Here's a little off down hill fun that I had.

In the background you can see the trail I just went down. Sorry, I was too busy driving to video tape it.

Okay, the ranking of trails at Rausch Creek go from Green, Blue, Black, Red. Red being the hardest. This following video is one of the guys I went with going up a Black trail.
It's rather long, about 9 minutes long.
***warning!!!*** Use of the word, s**t, is audible.

Here's a yellow jeep that was in our group on a climb.

He hit the hill a little too hard and snapped his driveshaft!!

Another from our group, a dodge pickup.

He got hung up on a rock and bent his steering stabilizer.

Here's me trying the hill that got the yellow jeep.

I almost made it!

I think the QT1 did pretty well. There were some times where a different ratio would have made things easier. There was a lot of giving too much gas to get up a rock then hitting the brakes so you don't go too fast on the down side of a rock. I'm talking to a friend about changing the 3.07's for 3.73's. That should help a little bit.

Important Update!!!

Ok, well this is what I get for not paying attention. As I looked at the trail map last night I discovered that most of the stuff that I complained about being so hard for a 'green' was actually 'blue'. In fact, we hit quite a bit of the blue trails. I'm sorry if I caused any unecessary concern!
