New from Canada

Hello,

New member from Edmonton, Alberta in Canada. I have been slowly fixing numerous small broken parts and finally started driving it a few weeks ago. I have been looking at the site for the last year. I have some more complex issues to get answers for so I hope that members here will be able to help.

Aside from general repairs, I have also replaced the springs with Old Man Emu medium duty springs and Rancho struts and shocks. I also replaced the brakes with new drill/ slot rotors and ceramic pads. I also added a BBK 85mm throttle body and picked up a Trinity T1000 tuner. I have an underdrive balancer as well but haven't installed it yet. I also picked up some Hedman headers to install. It has an annoying exhaust leak so I figured i could upgrade from the crappy log manifolds at the same time.

@Flex ;

Welcome to the forum;

I was curious - do you have a link for the drilled & slotted rotors and ceramic pads that you ordered?

I have these waiting for me when I get back to the states;

Power Stop K2220-36 Front & Rear Z36 Truck and Tow Brake Kit;

I'm going to have my mechanic take a look at them before I decide if I'm actually going to get them installed or not.

Hey bud,

I used the same kit. Just used brake caliper paint to paint the non friction surfaces. I put in new calipers at the same time. The back two weren't grabbing so I figured just change them all.

Thanks for the links. I have used the same manufacturer before and the product seems good. Can't beat the price. I am just installing 1.5" spacers and newer Cherokee wheels. I picked up a set of 10 ply tires a few months back.

Thanks Flex.

There is a pretty knowledgeable poster here (Racer_X) that thinks just by looking at them, they are not properly drilled and slotted and doesn't think that they will last.

I'll find the thread and post a link to it here so you can read it EDIT: Here it is;

https://www.jeepcommander.com/forums/...tml#post479298

The conversation starts at the 2nd post down.

I don't see how a brake kit that is supposed to be made for trucks and towing specifically, could be that flawed - but he was pretty adamant about it, so, I was going to get my mechanic to take a look at them before I had them installed.

The issue is, I was deployed overseas when I ordered them - and I still am, so, I haven't had a chance to get my hands on them yet, so, it's good to hear from someone who actually has them installed.

Should finally be going home next month, so, I'll get a chance to get my hands on them and have my mechanic take a look.
