Thanks for letting me register

Iíve come across threads in this forum many times, thanks to Google. There is a lot of good information here and I appreciate the collective knowledge that Iíve enjoyed and benefited from.

Iím not particularly sociable on forums. Iíve been admin and moderator on a Jeep forum and I suffered from burnout and donít regularly participate in conversation anymore, but I do like to read and research. I wonít mention which forum in observance of forums rules here, but itís the big one that has built up massive membership and thread counts with the philosophy of not telling people to use the search and to encourage new conversations for fresh outlooks on topics. That may be the s.o.p. on this forum as well. It is the formula for success, after all.

Iíve got a 2007 XK that is basically a Rocky Mountain, but was built early in the model year and doesnít have the badging. Other than that, it has all Rocky Mountain options, including the darkened wheels and all the frills that I used to think didnít belong on a Jeep.

Also, I have a 94 YJ Sahara that has been with me a loooong time.

Ah, my introduction is out of the way. That wasnít so bad! Thanks again for letting me get signed up with your fine group.

@Vicksburg ;

First and foremost - There are no such policies or rules on Jeepcommander.com in reference to not telling members to use the search feature on the forum in order to encourage new threads & conversations;

We actually encourage the use of the search feature in order to try and avoid duplicate threads/topics/questions being posted over and over again.

So please, don't assume that the policies & rules from your last Jeep forum apply here - because I can already see, that some of them don't.

I'd prefer that you ask any questions you have about how things are run here, if you are unclear about anything.

Now all that being said, welcome to the forum - and I hope you will choose to be an active member here.

Here are some links to help you out with your aftermarket shopping if you decide that you want to do some upgrades to your XK - or if you just need to order some replacement parts;

Thumbs up Search

If it is a rule, I'm not aware of it, and the search is a very useable tool that is sometimes seems all but forgotten. You may see how the start of a thread may not be the topic of the thread a couple of pages in, and so gets off track once in a while but there does seem to be quite a bit of membership useage of the forum, so in the end if you can gain the info you are looking for that is all we can hope for.

Welcome, And we thrive on pictures.

I didnít mean to put you on the offensive. I tried to read and understand all the rules before signing up. Obviously I was overthinking.

I donít think Iíll say too much after your warm welcome, big blue, but I do appreciate you and the forum very much. Iíve been around a long time and I had always thought of you as the cool guy.

Well, I have had to edit. I canít quote big blue because of restrictions of new members to post links. Thatís a good idea, regardless.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I will try to remember to post up some pics of the XK. Itís just a big white box, but Iíve always enjoyed it. Itís a very comfortable, yet very capable box. If I even remember to do it, Iíll throw in one of my YJ.

Thanks again!

@Vicksburg ;

Once you reach 5 posts, your full user privileges will kick in and you will have unrestricted access to the forum and all the sub-forums.

Also, I wasn't trying to silence you in any way, shape or form - quite the opposite actually.

Off topic. I saw you are in the US Merchant Marines somewhere in here. Thank you for your service.

That's correct and no problem at all.

I'll be visiting the Philippines here in the next couple of days and have been over here in the PAC 7th Fleet for the last year.

Should be finally leaving to come home on or about December 12th.....so I'll actually be home for the holidays for the first time in 3 years, which will be nice.

My whole life has been nothing but government service in some shape or form.

9 years of active duty U.S. Navy (88-97 Served in Desert Storm); 12 years of County Law Enforcement (1998-2010) and the last 6 years (2011-2017) with the Merchant Marines.
