Hello from East of Center

Hello all,, Sand Dab here. Just picked up a nice 2006 Commander and looking to modify it some for fishing the Beach on the Atlantic coast which is about 1/2 mile that-a-way. Not my first jeep by any means but is the first commander. Gotta admit,, I like it more than I figured. Think it'll work just fine for some R.I. surf fishing and other play times. I'm pushing hard on 68 y.o. so I'll probably be looking for safe dependability on the beach and such. Any Off-Roading (which I really enjoy as "Rock Crawling") will be modest for sure. I don't walk so good so I'm not looking to hike it out of the woods AT ALL. Also have a rather large dog that seems to go everywhere with me and the area behind the front seat will be modified for him and my beach sleeping forays.
I'm sure to have plenty of questions and request for ideas,,,, but for now,, I need to look around some to see if there's any other sand fleas about.
Take care & ENJOY

Question Fold down Seats

When you fold down the seats there is quite a large area and you might not have to do much work and still have a 3- 4 seater. We have 3 dogs and have the Jeep rear mat works great.

Welcome

Welcome

Hi Swanny,
Had this thing for almost a month and havn't had much chance to do much... yet. One thing I'm wanting to investigate is removing the upholstery in the 3rd row. Thinking with a little Yankee Engineering I could use that area for tackle storage & such. Thinking of possibly leaving the seat backs intact as a lid to storage area? Like I said, just thinking but no time to look into it yet. Also the jump seat / driver's side / 2nd row,, I'd like to remove leaving the passenger's side and center intact.
Then there's the lift thing. Want to run the 265 70 17 for the sand and that'll be a lift. Hopefully this site will give me a hint as to how much is needed. Not requiring a lot of articulation,, just clearance on some sand trails.
From the way it looks,, I need some "Post Count" to see many of people's photos of what they are talking about so I'm stalled fer a bit. LOL

@SandDab ;

If you have Quadra-Drive II you would have a Chrome T-Handle (circled in blue) to the right of your gear shift handle like this with the Quadra-Drive II Badge (circled in red). You would also have a 12 bolt rear differential cover.

If you have Quadra-Trac II you would have the same exact Chrome T-Handle - without the Quadra-Drive II Badge. You would also have a 10 bolt rear differential cover.

If you have Quadra-Trac I - you have no Chrome T-Handle at all and you are in 4-HI all the time - all you would see to indicate that you even have 4WD would be the little chrome 4x4 emblem on the rear hatch door - and just as with Quadra-Trac II you would have a 10 bolt rear differential cover.

You are not even close to being done and this is now 4 days later - this is what you should see - but with your Commander's information of course;

I'm going to post a link here for you to get your factory build sheet - then you will know exactly what your Commander has - all you have to do is plug in your VIN number.

Dodge - Contact Us

To get the factory build sheet for your Commander, click on the link above and navigate to "Your Vehicle" then click on "Equipment Listing" and enter your VIN number in the box that says "VIN" and hit "Search". The factory build sheet will list all of the factory options & optional preferred equipment packages that your vehicle had installed from the factory when it was built.

If you have a question - or don't know how to do something - ASK.

But it should all be pretty self-explanatory if you follow the instructions I've given you - about 4 different times now.

Thanks Blue.

Looks like I've the Quardra Trac II

PMed you on my not being on top of this and giving it my utmost during a big family thanksgiving week. BUT,, other things have importance too.

I'm 67 yo, not all that computer savvy, Handicapped with tons of medical issues. I'm here for help, enjoyment, and relaxing with like minded automotive types,
I've got pressures from all over and not interested in adding more.

I've got family staying here for a few days that I've not seen for years.

Okay...
I see where my info on profile is showing Hope it meets compliance, if not, please advise.
I read the 2 links but found no check off box.

Questions
Guess I did some wrongful postings before I had my "count". Sorry,, please remove said post. I will refrain from posting in sections other than "New Member" until notified.
What else am I missing for "compliance"?
