I purchased a 2006 Jeep Commander 3.7L v6 at an Auction in Phoenix AZ a couple of days ago. Thanks for allowing me to sign up, although why you need me to create a PayPal account is not clear when I already have credit cards to pay my bills. However, we'll figure something out.
On getting home I see a P0303 and a P2308, and the Catalyst Monitoring and O2 sensor both showing red status / incomplete on my ODB-II device. I also downloaded the manual from the Tradebit Download Center. Typical of a manufacturer, the manual does not seem complete. I think there are 4 O2 sensors that I can see on my Commander, but the manual tells me there are 2. I was able to fix the P0303 and the P2308 and I have called it a day. Tomorrow starts the hunt for a catalytic converter and the O2 Sensors (4?). The ODB-II also told me that the EVAP system is out, so I will probably need to look at that too. We took it out for a drive and the driver side passenger window was lowered never to return.
I love the vehicle. Our previous car was a Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and I am unbelievably ecstatic I got rid of it. I am a self confessed Saturday grease monkey, so most of this is not insurmountable. I also suspect something in the transmission, however, sufficient for the day are the evils thereof
Thanks again or having me join the forum.

Post some pics of your Commander when you can Vivian; I'm not sure about the Paypal account prerequisite that you mentioned - I've not heard about this before now.

Also, please read this if you haven't done so already - lots of good information in here;
REQUIRED READING!!! New Member Introduction post & other important new member info.
Additionally, here is a section from the New Member Required Reading Sticky post that might be useful to you; Maybe you can download a more complete version of your owners manual as well as a factory build sheet for your Commander;
You can check to see if all of the factory recalls & campaigns have been completed for the Commander you're looking at (or for the Commander you have already bought) by clicking on the hyperlink below & plugging in the VIN; If you are still looking and have not bought your Commander yet, I strongly recommend you do this BEFORE you buy it;
To get the factory build sheet
for the Commander you are looking at, or for the Commander you've already bought, enter your VIN here:
Secondary link: https://jeep.custhelp.com/app/jeep/eqlisting_detail/
The factory build sheet will list all of the factory options & optional preferred equipment packages that your vehicle had installed from the factory when it was built.
The difference between a safety recall and a campaign is this; a safety recall pertains to a vehicle problem that is a safety concern; a campaign is a vehicle problem that is not a safety concern, but, pertains to customer satisfaction.
Additionally if you bought a Commander, and it didn't come with an owner's manual, you can download a .PDF owner's manual to save and/or print, from the website link below;
Just click on "Jeep" then select the "Year" and "Model" of your Commander and click on "Select Vehicle"
Next, click on the "Owner's Manual" tab under "QUICK LINKS" then click on the "DOWNLOAD THE MANUAL (PDF)" button.
