Greetings from Metro Detroit. My name is Jerry and I live approximately 20 minutes west of Detroit in Livonia, MI. I have a 2008 Commander 3.7 4x4 with 144,000 miles. Apparently I am already in trouble on the forum because I didn’t click “save” on my profile edits. And I didn’t know that this introduction is mandatory. Sorry for that! I’ve been browsing the forums and gaining knowledge for quite some time. Seems to be many knowledgeable, helpful people on this site.

I don’t have any pics right now to sure. Have had my Commander for almost a year. Drove it from Metro Detroit to NYC last 4th of July. Handled beautifully!

Mod wishlist; RC 2” lift, bigger tires, interested in the viper throttle body mod, programmer/tuner... off the top of my head. Oh yeah, remote start and leather seats. Would like to switch out chrome grille for painted. Been thinking about Line-X/Rhino liner for bumpers, fenders, and flares. Come to this forum and see that it’s been done...successfully! I guess I’m not as original as I thought. I’d like to either rehab or replace the seat belts...they don’t spring back so we’ll.

Had a few issues to correct right off the bat so mods have had to wait (not to mention teenagers who eat me out of house and home!). Despite the external appearance of a new muffler, the baffles went bad. So I had to replace it. First the battery died and within weeks the alternator started sparking and smoking so I put in a new alternator. Put in a new serpentine belt while I was at it. Sunroof was inop. Took me forever to research that it was actually an aftermarket sunroof. Luckily, there was a preferred installer right across the street from work. Even more luckily, it was only a bad switch. Replaced both external mirrors because of the “shaking at high speeds” issue. Came out of the grocery store and wife noticed cracked tail light, so replaced both. Center console was cracked, replaced. I had engine leak...head maybe? Can’t remember right now.

Things I’ve done; removed factory stereo and added an Apple CarPlay double din stereo with backup camera and full hands free support. Replaced factory bulbs in the A/C-heater control and shift module. Actually, I’ve upgraded to LEDs all around. Had to add resistors to fix the hyper flash in the turn signals. Added hitch and harness. Weather tech custom mats. Added external window visors/vents. Blacked out factory rims...Plastic Dip seems to be the rage but I went with gloss black barbecue paint.

I've searched through these and am unable to find the "get lost" spare tire carrier. Any idea if these are still available? The threads mentioning these are a few years old...not sure if the part is even still available or if it is a "fabricate your own" thing.

Never heard of it honestly; You might find a spare tire carrier that would work here;

I have a buddy that has one of these Wilco's on his Land Cruiser, it's pretty sweet.
