Hello All - New member and Question
Hello all, and thanks for the add.
I, recently, purchased a very cherry 2007 Commander; with 135k miles, and an impeccable service record, for $5k.
When I test drove it, I knew it had a bad fan clutch going in. No biggie, easy and cheap repair right?
Well I purchase the Autozone Duralast fan clutch, and have experienced the following.
Cold start engagement, then releases after initial warm up. (Great)
Then get in traffic, and it engages (as it should)
But here's where it went bad; it would never disengage, again, until a complete thermal cycle.
So I exchanged it for another, thinking, OK it's just a bad unit.
Well the second one is even worse. Stays engaged full time, no matter the temp.
However, the engagement is alot softer, and doesn't sap near as much energy as the last fan clutch.
But dang, it's a noisy fan, on this Jeep. I can't stand sounding like a Semi truck everywhere I go.
Long story short, do any of you have any good, low cost, fan clutch recommendations, or do I need to bite the bullet and go OEM?
PS: Other than the super noisy fan, I love this Jeep even more than my old 4.0 Grand Cherokee Laredo.
This thing is a beast, towing my boat. So effortless. And a very smooth ride to boot.
