A Commander lover, from the beginning.

Hello, fellow Commander lovers

I was drawn to the commanders unique design, the first time i laid my eyes on one, in what must have been 2006 or 07. I have always been a 4WD fan. In fact, my FIRST VEHICLE, was a 1970's LAND ROVER. From there, i went on to regular 2WD cars... Toyota Celica, Ford Cougar, Nissan Maxima etc... Then, with some bad times. My friend GAVE ME his 1991 Jeep Cherokee. And from that 4WD, I was back on the road again ! :-) And while still owning the Cherokee, i laid eyes upon the Commander. And told myself, i would get one, some day ! Well, I did ! A 2008 limited 5.7 Hemi V8 GAS GUSSLER ! lol I do lover her so:-) I LOVE the design ! Its hard to believe that the CEO of Jeep Chrysler, at the time, actually said, he couldn't understand how anyone would own one ! He's gone ! And we who love the Commander, are still here !

Welcome HoboCommand! I too have the thirsty 5.7L, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Mine's an '07 Limited though.

Shortly after production ended, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne said of the Commander, "That vehicle was unfit for human consumption. We sold some. But I don't know why people bought them."

More negative press here https://www.wikiowl.com/en/wiki/List...nder_(2006-10)

I love it, reading the poor reviews and all. i get a kick out of them

Pretty sure at least 25% of them ended up in Colorado.

Psshhh.... I love how they are just a grown up XJ!! Minus a solid front axle....It's not like the XJ's were ever anything "pretty"...just boxes on wheels.
I still see Commanders everywhere, but just enough so that they aren't very common....who wants what everyone else has?

Probably the worst thing I hear about my Commander is that it looks like a Hummer. I probably wouldn't mind except they are saying that like the Hummer is superior. Beyond sucking more gas they don't do ANYTHING better than a Commander!

And I also love the Chrysler CEO's negative comment! Of all the ugly and poor performing vehicles the designers rolled out of the auto factories, the Commander isn't one of them.
