2008 navigation unit fit a 2006?

My WK has the much improved 2008 touchscreen navigation. I have a donor XK vehicle available with the same, I believe. Does anyone know if the new nav will plug and play with all of the functionality? The old style with knobs and buttons is tedious! If not, I will likely replace with aftermarket, but I am afraid it will cost me steering wheel and RES function. Thanks for any help

I'm not 100% certain, but, I don't believe they are compatible as far as just being plug & play; I am sure they use different software versions; They are also programmed to the original vehicle from which they came by the VIN. I believe you need a lock-pick device to unlock it and program it to the new vehicle's VIN;

Happy to help @CZHipster; Post some pics when you get everything put together.
