I have found a couple of threads here that deal with the second row seat headrest. My problem is that my driver's side third row headrest will not lock in the upright position. It remains folded even when the seat itself is locked in position. I would like to get a good look at the internals, but I am trying not to break all of the plastic connectors. Has anyone taken pics of the seat disassembly? Anyone solve this issue. It is a small issue, but it is making my crazy! Thanks!
A simple fix worth a try is running some very thin oil down the metal 'poles'of the headrest. the problem seems to be that counter balance weights on the mechanism stick either over time or due to lack of use (my third row spends most of the time down) so lubricating them can solve it.
This happened to me and I just made sure the handle to pull the seat down was fully in its original position and the headrest then was able to lock in place.
WD40 is more of a moisture repellant - but i have used it a lube and penetrating fluid myself in the past. extra thin (low SAE number) lock oil might do it? advantge with WD though is that a small straw can sometime be attached to the aerosol nozzle to make it easier to direct the flow.
Yep, had the same probem as CZHipster with my 2007 Jeep Commander's driver's side rear seat headrest. It wouldn't stay up. I used a couple of drops of thin oil, flipped the headrest a couple of times and the headrest was working again. Thanks to all.
