Resetting The ECU

Here in Florida, all fuels now have up to 10% ethanol. I have a Nissan Titan, which experienced a 2 mpg reduction in efficiency on average. I reset the ECU on it and gain back about 1.5 mpg and some low-end power.

Does anyone know the ECU reset procedure for the Commander 4x4 with the 4.7L V-8? I want to reset it to see if it as similar effects on my wife's commander.

Thanks.

Thats about all I know of.. I wish they would figure out something other than this ethanol crap. I am sure giving the current situation with crops in the midwest this isnt helping gas prices either.

only re setting i have done is to remove the negative cable and turn on the ingnition to clear the memory and start over......
Yeah...I can do that. but with the Titan, the procedure includes turning the key to on 3 times, followed by 5 pumps of the gas pedal and some other sequences in a specific number of seconds. I was hoping there is a similar sequence so I can avoid erasing the radio stations saved on my wife's radio.

WAIT!!! I don't like the stations she has saved! OK...I'll disconnect the battery. That way I won't have to listen to Barbara Streisand!

It still keeps the preset radio stations. Do you have the memory seating? You can set different preset radio stations with each memory seating.

I didn't know that! Is this for real? I will try it in the morning. This should be added in the JEEP Commander secret. Thanks!

I'm not sure. It's not a Limited. It's a 4.7 4x4 (with the transfer case). Cloth seats, 6-CD changer, power everything. It even has bun warmers, which my wife was excited about...not sure why. We live in Florida and need bun warmers as much as an eskimo needs Ocean Pacific surfing shorts.

I mess with her sometimes by energizing the bun warners when she's not looking. Ticks her off every time. The first few times, she kept turning the AC to full and saying she was hot. She thought the AC was broken and wanted to take it to the dealer!

Now that is priceless! :D

If you do have the memory seating, it will be on the door panel directly in the front of the door handle. It will be a button that has a number 1 and number 2 on it.
