Did you ever get guidance on this? I just got my first XK and am interested in putting in a double din NAV

I've just installed a 2 din Clarion Sat Nav unit in my 06 UK spec commander. I made a face plate for the dash becuase to change the Bezel is quite exspensive from the 1.5 din to the 2 din opening, so thought I'd have a go myself to start with. Needs a bit of tweaking but it's getting there. Not quite found the correct black shade of paint.

Then I put a couple of rear screens for the 2nd row

I had to get the leather coloured coded to match

Then I've got a roof mount screen for the 3rd row. Not fitted this yet

I've also got a rear reversing camera on order.

I just mounted my sat nav unit under the pasenger footwell. All the wiring was in place when you buy one of these. Just connect your aftermarket harness to the CANBUS converter and away you go.

You need to either cut up the current bezel and make it fit, or order the double din dash ( I ordered a new dash ). Otherwise the wiring is pretty easy; you just need a canbus adapter, the antenna adapter and to route the ( sat / gps ) antennas.

I got a Clarion NX501. Pretty good, nav is nice but the SAT player has some bug where I lose my presets when it's not feeling friendly.

Search the forums, someone has a killer writeup with pics and part #'s.

Actually doing the install took

Do it right and order the dash kit. Don't hack up your dash like everyone else does it never looks good.

The dash kit is expensive but it's worth it if you want it to look good. Morris 4X4 sells the dash kit for 2006-2007 to eliminate those semi circles on the sides. They sell it in all 3 colors.

Here's the link:

If you don't care about the OEM look you can go with a standard black double din kit on eBay. I was able to find them for less than $15.

Also I don't know how reputable the stuff on the next site is but I'm going to be trying it when I get the $$$ to buy the in dash DVD and GPS. All the stuff looks like it's decent quality and has all the options a normal person would need. They have in-dash radio/CD/DVD/MP3/GPS/back up camera units between $150-$400. I'm going to purchase this:

The website is www.amazplus.com Shipping is expensive because it's imported but the low prices compensate for that. Let me know if any of this helps or if you decide to go with anything I mentioned.

Good Luck!!
