...And do you regret the choice now? What would you choose if you could do it all over again?

I'm very happy with my Hemi. :D

I got the 3.7 for the Gas and am very happy with it. This is my first 4x4 even though i have always wanted a jeep. I used to drive a little 4 banger Cougar with two kayaks on top to places that car had no business going. Found an amazing deal on an 06 XK Sport and couldn't pass it up. I bought it to haul the kayaks to some remote rivers. Now i find myself wanting to go 4 wheeling. Too new to the sport to know what I'm doing.

Why can't you lift the v6? I thought I might do this sometime down the road when i start to play with my XK some more. But if i can't do it I want to know why.

Nope, I've been looking. The only thing I've found is for a dodge truck (not quite the same motor) and it was a s/c kit, 8 grand it'll cost ya.. that doesn't include the tuning for it either.

4.7 is not a small V8 in my opinion. I have the Hemi on my Commander but I have a 4.7 on a Grand Cherokee and it has been a great engine. I have never felt it was underpowered, even in the mountains off-road at Canyonlands NP, Utah. You will continue to be happy with it.

The Durango that I traded for my Commander had the 4.7 and it was a great motor. Plenty of power but certainly you couldnt call it a speed deamon. Got the hemi in my Commander and it too is a great motor but I did think it would be a little quicker then what it is...maybe it is the MDS doing its thing I dont know. And yes the gas mileage is pretty bad so far and I am not even a lead footed driver. YIKES....

By the Picture you have a Limited 4x4. Nice looks just like mine. I get ~ 16 mpg. For the weight ov the Jeep I don't think that is bad. I have plenty of power. Night and day to my old truck with the 4.7. Don't get me wrong the 4.7 is great. But no mach to 5.7 hemi.

I chose the 5.7 hemi 2wd limited. I live in south Louisiana, and it's all flat! And frankly, i'll be damned if I'm gonna take a 38000.00 vehicle muddin!! That's what my dirt bike and four wheeler are for! By the way, I too was expecting a little more oomph, but see this vehicle for what it is 4800-5200 lb. of box. it's actually quite quick for being so heavy. I especially like to stomp it like I stole it at about 60mph.
I then climbs to 80-90 with substantial ease.

How are you getting 17 mpg? I just bought mine - a little bit over a month. I am averaging 12.7 mpg according to the electronic gauge. about a 60/40 city/highway driving. Dealer says it should improve, that the engine needs time to settle. ???

I noticed a mileage improvement after 1,200 miles or so.

I'm at 8,000 miles now, and enjoying every one.

Frankly, at this time, I do not care about the gas consumption. I took it into consideration before I bought the car and knew that it is heavy and large, aerodynamically shaped like a box and got one of the largest engines around. If I want to be frugal, I drive one of my other cars, or would have bought a Prius. When the kids are out of the house and I do not drive on weekends from tennis tournament to tennis tournament across state lines, I can scale down. Right now the JC Hemi is the perfect choice for my family :)

We got the 4.7L V8 and it is great (except the 12 MPG at 3,500K miles - still looking for the improvement, even a little would be nice). The only reason I wish we would have gotten the Hemi is I think our Comm would have looked nice pulling our boat. :)

I traded in my 4.7 for the 5.7 when the new incentives came out this month and the Hemi IS the way to go. My MPG is slightly better if not the same and I have 90 more horses under the hood when I need it.
