Dual Climate controls, passenger side is noticeably warmer.

I've done a search and noticed some people complained about this issue, but I never saw a resolution. Does anyone know exactly what this is? I'm assuming blend door malfunction, but since no one confirmed that, I wanted to ask.

I just had the system serviced, so I know that the R134A is at the correct levels.

The passenger side air blend door breaking in the dual climate control system or a leak in the evaporator for both systems will cause the passenger side to blow warmer air than the driver side.

If its caused by the evaporator leak, then recharging the system should return cold air to the passenger side. Unless the leak in the evaporator is bad, which they always progress to be worse and worse. If that was true, then your AC pressure would be down already on your just serviced system.

If the pressure are fine, then you're problem is likely a bad air blend door and usually the root of that is its actuating motor or the plastic link between the door and actuating motor.

BTW, the AC condensation drain for the evaporator is over the transmission, you can't see from under the car. So you can't tell if dye or oil are leaking out of the AC evaporator.

I went with FourSeasons from RockAuto. Seems to be a good brand. Replacing the evaporator core did indeed fix the warmer on the passenger side issue. Here's the best video I was able to find - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZPHeNJhRzk . I watched it on my tablet in fullscreen, screenshotted the directions, printed them out and used them as a step by step. Made it super easy.

Also, here's the thread I made about it, for reference. http://www.jeepcommander.com/forums...ance/56017-evaporator-core-replacement-2.html

The rear evaporator is much, much easier to access than the front. But it requires you to open up the AC system, NOT worth it IMO, unless you have some sort of symptom the rear evaporator is bad. I have NOT heard of many rear evaporator failures on the Commander. They are common on the later mini-vans.

I removed my rear evaporator to flush it and the lines out, when replacing my front evaporator (I kept recharging when it was leaking without enough oil, so my compressor seized which requires flushing out the entire system). My rear evaporator looked in great shape.

You have to pull the 3rd row seat out and the storage tray behind them.
You have to pull several pieces of plastic trim over top of it.
You have to disconnect the coolant and AC lines from the underside of the vehicle where they turn up and connect to the rear heater/evaporator (outside the passenger compartment).

06 commander didn't have very good air was ok up front but never got to the middle seats so I googled some stuff and decided to open the lower dash and when I took out the fan and motor my blend door actuator fell out and when I looked up the blend door was broke I'm going to tackle the blend door housing because they do not just sell the door and the actuator and gear any advice PLEASE

I believe this is the same problem 99FormulaM6, he bought the 68017816AB which is the "air inlet housing".

...looking at the new air inlet housing, I noticed that there was a small push pin on the inside of the blend door itself, which is how it was connected to the gear on the outside of the housing. So, I was able to remove the blend door from the new air inlet housing and insert the blend door into my housing in the Commander. I placed the gear on the blend door from the outside of the housing, lined up the actuator and everything is good to go.
The gear for the actuator motor Mopar part# 68072190AA
3 T15 torx head screws holding the motor to the housing.

Hope this at least points you in the right direction.

Member 99formula6 just fixed a what I believe was a similar issue.
Maybe he will chime in, If not I'll look through my nite to find how he did it. But that will not be until tomorrow, I'm on my phone so can't really do a lot now.
Edit: on the actuator check if it's broken or not. The motors usually don't go bad. They do sell the gear for the actuator, I think the part # is in this thread, I'll try to find it tomorrow, and dorman does make a aftermarket replacement actuator if you need one. I haven't heard of too many who have.

Reviving this thread to ask a question of the ac experts here, I was talking with somebody with a WK with " sucking sound " behind the dashboard, he had a shop vacuum it down and leak check to no avail. I believe it is holding the charge as well.
Does anyone know what causes this problem?
We were thinking evaporator, maybe expansion valve, but I'm way out of my depth.
Thanks again
