LED Headlights - I have searched...

Hello,

Anyone have real world experience with a particular kit? I know we have the CANBUS/TIPM issue. I have always ran DDM Tuning kits HID kits but installed one and the lights would blink when turning the lights off. Also blinked when engine running if headlights were not on. I do not want a dissertation on resistors and such...just seeing if anyone has used a CANBUS/TIPM designed LED kit like OPT7 from Amazon. Cannot find a review for a Jeep on their. Looking for plug and play with the resistors/module needed. I tried a module on the HID kit and it did nothing. Found a review for the OPT7 resistor kit on a 2006 WK and he said it didn't work. Anyone running a plug and play kit that works?
Thanks.

I know back when searching around for my wj I was reading that HID headlights needed hid specific housings or the light pattern would throw differently. Is that the same with the xk's? I think I saw somewhere that the 2009's and up came with HID headlights (or maybe they were just an option) do they have different headlights housings?

Sorry forgot this thread was about LED not HID dont want to jack the thread. So I guess big blue, did you have issue when swapping to LED bulbs with light scattering or dispersion since the bulb shape was different than stock?

@heffercow ;

The only thing you have to be sure of is that you properly "clock" the LEDS in your headlight housing which is basically how they sit - or how they are oriented;

You want both of your LED's to sit with the same exact orientation in the headlight housing - or the light throw will not be even.

It's really not a big deal, as long as you pay attention to detail and take your time when you're installing them.

But to answer your question - No, no issues with light scattering or dispersion.

I got some LEDs a few months ago and LOVE them. I had the CANBUS flickering problem. The company sent me an adapter free and it has been perfect since. The LEDs are obviously much brighter and they have the ideal cutoff for the beam. I did LEDs fogs last week and they are a mess! Light spraying all over the place.

Here's what I got on sale from Amazon for $38 shipped

Funny. My LED headlights are perfect. The cutoff is just like stock.

The LED fogs are unbearable with light scatter. I'll be returning them and just get all new projector fogs
Mine are perfect as well, I was just pointing out that the manufacturers instructions state to make sure both lights are properly clocked - and why it's important.

I've been running these Putco Silverlux's for about 15 months now with no issues at all.

Funny, I have not seen these before.

So, I was curious and I just used the "Check to see if this fits your vehicle" feature on Amazon and it says they will not fit my 2008 Commander.

Then I re-read your post Mike and saw where you said you just replaced your factory housings - I'm guessing you meant you factory fog-light housings?

Just trying to follow what you are attempting here - are you taking the guts out of these LED fogs and trying to fit them into the factory fog-light housings?

That sounds pretty tricky if that's what you're trying.

Looking to purchase these LEDs (https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/253342535440) but just wanted to see what anyone’s thoughts are on them, including the voltage as the company is saying that the voltage is incorrect however from what I can tell the Jeep puts out 12v and these run from 9 - 32v so should be correct, plus they are Canbus oked.

Anyone see any issues with these? I know they are cheap but have some good reviews on Amazon too.

Cheers for any insight

Going to bump this thread just because the recommended resistors on the first page are no longer available. I just installed THESE on my Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0's (high and low beams) and the flickering has finally been fixed, along with the radio static and interior light not always turning off!
