I researched for probably four days before I pulled the trigger and never quite found a place with all the answers. This is how I ended up wiring an Aux input into my REC head unit. I am emulating the VES input. I wanted Bluetooth connectivity so I opted for an adapter that I paired my phone to. So far, three days and no problems.

What you’ll need:
1) PAC AAI-CHY Dual Auxiliary Audio Input For 2005+ Chrysler Vehicles
https://www.amazon.com/PAC-AAI-CHY-...1522895416&sr=8-2&keywords=Chrysler+auxiliary

2) RCA to female 3.5mm jack
https://www.amazon.com/CableCreatio...=1-2-spons&keywords=rca+to+female+3.5mm&psc=1

3) OPTIONAL: 3.5mm jack to Bluetooth transmitter
https://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Bluetoo...d=1522895551&sr=1-3&keywords=3.5+to+bluetooth

The install of all the components was very straight forward, all plug and play. You can learn to remove the radio to plug in the PAC adapter here:

Nice work, here is a thread with a similar subject - don't know if you read it or not - or how what you did may differ:

I did read through that one. The main difference being that I implemented about a $70 solution that didn't involve replacing the head unit and still added the simple 3.5mm AUX jack most people want, adding Bluetooth was just the icing on the cake.

Did I mention replacing the factory head unit could cost $$$$?

Good idea, that can help others who are researching in the future.

I’m sure the features are nice, that’s a nice unit. I like that it looks OEM like too.

I’ve been using google maps on my phone, I’ve yet to use the factory nav in the Commander and doubt it will. Wonder if Google Maps will start being integrated in future vehicles.

It's probably just a matter of time before you start seeing some head units that have similar functionality to a smart phone or tablet where you can go online and the whole 9 yds.

So yes, in my opinion it's feasible that you could probably see something like that in the not too distant future.

But then again, since everybody already has those capabilities in their smart phones & tablets, it could be that car stereo manufacturers may not think it would be profitable to do it, so, who knows?

Time will tell I guess - but I don't think it would be very hard at all to do it though, since the technology is already widely in use.
