anyone know where i can find a H.I.D. kit for the commander I looked on eBay and there was one guy selling the plug in and play one but I didn't bid cause I wasn't sure and when I went back the auction had ended...
Ok i've been doing research since i've posted, you can actually goto like HIDplaza.com, and xenonking.com, and just find the fitting for the commander which is 9006. i think that should work I am about to order a pair for myself once I get them and install I will post pics and installation tips.

well i talked to the guy on the phone and it's just plug in and play, so im pretty sure the smartbeam would work. and my dad owns a shop with inspection so i get special privlages like the limo tint i have on the vehicle currently

i know ur wondering why a commander after having that car but i just loved it the moment i saw it.
anywho i don't think the cops will be able to tell if it came factory or not cause most new vehicles do have the H.I.D. lights factory so i doubt they will question it.
and I will let everyone know if the smartbeam works once installed and which one i ordered with pics and everything.
just recieved the kit at work, installed it right when i recieved it took me a good 20 mins i didnt mount the ignitor yet just kinda squeezed into place it was VERY easy to install. it's still bright here in houston but as soon as it turns dark ill be on the street testing out the smartbeam and how it looks i will take pics of the install and the lights at work when i get home.
Check the owners manual... there is supposed to be a way to put the Smart Beam lights intoa demo mode. This may help determine if the HID will cause issues.
SmartBeam Demonstration mode:
The SmartBeam system has a demonstration mode that can be activated by pressing and holding the Auto button on the rearview mirror. The system will ramp up the high beams and then back to low beams, along with turning the high beam indicator on and off.
Will be cool to know how much better they light up dark Texas streets
it's still bright here and hot, i did try the auto thing but didn't work i only tried once thought didn't really mess with it. I will add more later tonight...
ok sorry the camera isn't the best using my girlfriends camera but once i get a hold of a nice camera will take more pictures... def. looks a lot better in person if you live around here and want to check it out just message me id be more then happy to meet up and show you...
How was the wiring? Is it plug and play or do you have to cut / splice wires. Is switching back to factories as easy as unplugging something and plugging back in the factory lights?

the wiring was simple, it is seriously just plug and play no cutting no splicing. and it is very simple to go back to factory just unplug the power and ground.
Warning- I had these on another car and within a months time the plastic had become discolored and etched. I had use mequirs plast-x to clean them with and they were never as good as before. I not a hundred percent sure these lights were the cause but the car was perfect prior to with several thousand miles on it.
