Re: HID Kit

Ok i've been doing research since i've posted, you can actually goto like HIDplaza.com, and xenonking.com, and just find the fitting for the commander which is 9006. i think that should work I am about to order a pair for myself once I get them and install I will post pics and installation tips.

Hmm, they say nothing about being DOT approved. If your state has safety inspections these lights might cause problems.

Also, I wonder how well they work with the SmartBeam headlight system?

Re: HID Kit

well i talked to the guy on the phone and it's just plug in and play, so im pretty sure the smartbeam would work. and my dad owns a shop with inspection so i get special privlages like the limo tint i have on the vehicle currently ;)

Just wondering if you got pulled over how much trouble the police could give you about them? Would they know they were not factory spec?

Let us know if the SmartBeam works ok and which kit you picked.

Re: HID Kit

well the cops in texas aren't that brilliant trust me i use to drive a rice rocket (honda prelude )
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...m=110009863265&ih=001&sspagename=STRK:MESE:IT

i know ur wondering why a commander after having that car but i just loved it the moment i saw it.

anywho i don't think the cops will be able to tell if it came factory or not cause most new vehicles do have the H.I.D. lights factory so i doubt they will question it.

and I will let everyone know if the smartbeam works once installed and which one i ordered with pics and everything.

I would think the 6000K kit would be the one that would have the best tradeoff between color and distance.

Are you going to swap both your high and low beam bulbs?

Re: HID Kit

just recieved the kit at work, installed it right when i recieved it took me a good 20 mins i didnt mount the ignitor yet just kinda squeezed into place it was VERY easy to install. it's still bright here in houston but as soon as it turns dark ill be on the street testing out the smartbeam and how it looks i will take pics of the install and the lights at work when i get home.

Re: HID Kit

Check the owners manual... there is supposed to be a way to put the Smart Beam lights intoa demo mode. This may help determine if the HID will cause issues. ;)

SmartBeam Demonstration mode:
The SmartBeam system has a demonstration mode that can be activated by pressing and holding the Auto button on the rearview mirror. The system will ramp up the high beams and then back to low beams, along with turning the high beam indicator on and off.

Will be cool to know how much better they light up dark Texas streets :)

Also, which site did you end up buying from?

How was the wiring? Is it plug and play or do you have to cut / splice wires. Is switching back to factories as easy as unplugging something and plugging back in the factory lights?
i ended up using www.hidplaza.com

the wiring was simple, it is seriously just plug and play no cutting no splicing. and it is very simple to go back to factory just unplug the power and ground.

Re: HID Kit

Warning- I had these on another car and within a months time the plastic had become discolored and etched. I had use mequirs plast-x to clean them with and they were never as good as before. I not a hundred percent sure these lights were the cause but the car was perfect prior to with several thousand miles on it.

Yes, i searched, but since you can't search on less than 4 letter words here............

Do we have reversed polarity in our Commanders?

Do we need a bulb out warning eliminator for the Commander?

I've read that we need the upgraded wiring harness to fire using auto headlights, assume that's still correct?

What else do I need to know about putting HID in the commander? I have them in the Magnum and love them.

this site http://www.dabears2k.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_4&products_id=29 is having a sale, I can get another 10% off purchase today. I'm buying fogs for the Magnum, and want lows for the Commander. Input would be great.
