Seal Identification

Hi all,

While I was under my Commander working on replacing my oxygen sensors, I noticed grease leaking around the seal that connects the front drive shaft to the transfer case. After wiping up the grease, sure enough there is a small tear in the boot.

1. Would this be the Input Shaft Seal - Mopar (5143714AA)?
2. Any chance its covered by the lime time power train warranty?

Thanks

Mark

Let me clarify, the QT-1 transfer case (NV140) uses ATF+4 (transmission fluid). So if it is the transfer case shaft seal that is leaking, 5143714AA is the correct part.

I'd say the lifetime drivetrain warranty should cover it, talk to the dealer. I had the front Diff bushings and water pump covered under the warranty. It covers a lot of things.

I certainly hope so. It covered my water pump as well. Is there documentation on what exactly is covered anywhere. I'll have to look through my owner's manual and related paperwork.
